Finland’s DNA Keeps The World’s Most Avid Mobile Data Users Satisfied

DNA, a leading Finnish telecommunications group with more than 3.9 million fixed and mobile subscribers and coverage of 99% of the population, operates in a fiercely competitive market where many customers use mobile broadband as their primary Internet. With average mobile usage of 19.8 GB per subscriber in early 2018 and traffic growing 33% year over year, DNA needed to deliver high-quality, low-cost mobile and fixed services and prepare its network for an expected ~7x surge in data with the rollout of 5G.

To meet that challenge, DNA upgraded its core to Juniper MX Series 5G Universal Routing Platforms (MX80, MX10003, MX2020, MX2008, MX960) and Junos Space for centralized management, and developed automation tools using Juniper’s open APIs. The result is a scalable 1.2 Tbps IP/MPLS core that supports multiple services on a single infrastructure, simplifies operations and reduces errors, speeds provisioning, and positions DNA to handle significant 5G-driven traffic growth while maintaining reliable, cost-effective service.
