Dutch Internet Service Provider Builds a Virtual Data Center Fabric to Simplify Operations

Interconnect is a Dutch internet service provider offering cloud hosting, connectivity, VoIP and data‑centre services. As its footprint grew to more than 200 switches, manual VLAN provisioning across data centres became slow, error‑prone and hard to manage, while spanning tree limits, QoS and latency issues threatened service quality. Interconnect therefore sought an innovative, proven vendor to simplify and modernize its network architecture.

Interconnect deployed Juniper’s MetaFabric—MX104 edge routers, QFX5100 and EX4300 switches and a Virtual Chassis Fabric—delivered with Infradata support. The fabric behaves as a single logical switch, dramatically simplifying configuration and auto‑provisioning, reducing hops and latency, improving resilience with multiple path options, enabling in‑service upgrades and eliminating previous packet‑loss issues; the result is faster provisioning, lower operational overhead and a more reliable, scalable data‑centre network.
