Colt Technology Services, a pan‑European managed IT, networking and communications provider with a network spanning 22 countries, needed to deliver Ethernet and IP services faster and more flexibly while better controlling CapEx and OpEx and preparing for NFV/SDN‑driven hybrid and cloud services. The legacy service delivery model was slow and hardware‑heavy, limiting agility and innovation.

Colt deployed Juniper MX960 3D Universal Edge Routers and built virtual CPE (vCPE) capabilities to virtualize edge functions, simplifying customer premises equipment to a single L2 device in many cases. This accelerated and simplified service delivery and assurance, reduced CapEx and OpEx, enabled faster introduction of flexible hybrid services, and positioned Colt for its longer‑term SDN/NFV ambitions.
