Borealis Reduces Network Complexity and Builds a FutureProof Infrastructure that Meets All Business Requirements

Borealis, a leading chemical manufacturer serving 6,500 employees across 12 European offices, faced an aging, complex LAN that was driving up support costs and limiting IT service levels. The company needed a scalable, highly redundant and secure infrastructure that would reduce operational overhead, improve security and deliver wireless access in meeting rooms with separate, secure guest connectivity.

Borealis implemented a standardized, phased Juniper-based solution—EX Series switches, SRX firewalls, WLC controllers and WLA access points, MAG6610 gateways, SmartPass and Ringmaster—managed on Junos OS and rolled out across 1,000+ edge devices and dual core data centers. The redesign simplified the network, enabled secure guest Wi‑Fi, improved technical performance and redundancy, and cut operational costs; the migration completed with no user complaints and left Borealis with a future‑proof platform ready for VoIP, video and other services.
