Big Deal Films brings 117 VFX shots to life with JumpKick

Big Deal Films, a London production company, faced the challenge of creating realistic talking animal VFX for their adult-comedy BBC Three mini-series, 'Oi, Pussy!'. They needed to bring cats and dogs to life with CGI, which required detailed lip-sync animation and complex compositing to integrate the animals seamlessly into live-action footage. To achieve this, they enlisted the vendor JumpKick.

JumpKick created 3D model mouths and rigs for each animal character. They then produced a total of 117 individual VFX shots, each requiring meticulous tracking, lip-sync animation, rendering, and frame-by-frame compositing. To ensure realism, JumpKick applied custom CGI fur, specific lighting, motion blur, and color correction for every shot. The successful project culminated in the show premiering on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three's YouTube channel in September 2019.
