A JumpCloud Case Study
The Last Mile, a nonprofit that teaches incarcerated individuals coding skills, needed a scalable way to manage a rapidly growing, highly secure learning environment across multiple prison sites and a mix of Mac and Windows systems. As they expanded nationwide, they faced the challenge of automating identity management, software delivery, and endpoint security without adding a large internal IT team. JumpCloud Directory-as-a-Service was the platform they turned to for help.
JumpCloud enabled The Last Mile to centrally manage users and fleets of systems with policies, grouping, scripts, MFA, SSO, and event tracking, while supporting Linux, OS X, Windows, LDAP, and RADIUS. With JumpCloud, The Last Mile can securely roll out new sites faster, control access, and automate machine management alongside Automox. The program has already graduated more than 400 students with a 0% recidivism rate, and The Last Mile is now expanding from 8 to 11–12 sites, with growing interest from companies like Slack, Fandom, and Google.
