AD Disaster Recovery & Remote Work

Inland Valleys Association of Realtors (IVAR), a nonprofit serving more than 4,000 realtor members in Southern California, was relying on a single Windows Server 2012 Active Directory setup and had no real disaster recovery plan. IT Manager Van Romine wanted a cloud-based directory backup to reduce risk, but the challenge quickly grew when IVAR had to move employees to remote work with less than a week’s notice. JumpCloud Directory-as-a-Service was already in place to run alongside AD when the remote-work transition began.

JumpCloud helped IVAR migrate users to cloud-managed accounts, maintain password sync with Active Directory, and keep employees productive from home with little disruption. The organization gained easier access management, the ability to revoke access quickly from the admin portal, and less day-to-day dependence on AD. Van Romine said the rollout was frictionless and that IVAR is “never going back,” though no specific numeric performance gains were reported.
