Instacart deploys Jumio’s Netverify as part of touchless onboarding and verification of new shoppers

Instacart, the San Francisco–based same-day grocery delivery platform, was growing explosively across 150+ markets but faced a bottleneck recruiting and verifying shoppers: its in-person ID checks required office visits, slowed onboarding to weeks, and limited its ability to meet rising demand.

To solve this, Instacart integrated Jumio’s Netverify into a touchless onboarding flow where applicants photograph a government ID and take a selfie; AI, computer vision, liveness detection and human review verify the ID and match the user. The automated process cut onboarding from weeks to days (enabling new shoppers to start in hours), reduced operational costs, and supported rapid nationwide scaling across the US and Canada.
