Ahli United Bank (AUB) is a pan‑regional Islamic bank headquartered in Bahrain with 163 branches across eight countries. Facing an inefficient, branch‑focused onboarding process that required customers to present ID in person and was slow to detect fraud, AUB wanted a fast, convenient digital application flow that maintained strong anti‑fraud controls.

AUB implemented Jumio Identity Verification — an AI‑driven solution that checks government IDs, matches selfies with ID photos using biometrics and liveness checks, and delivers definitive verification decisions in seconds. Since 2020 the bank has cut onboarding from up to five days to about five minutes, increased digital conversions, reduced fraud and customer acquisition costs, and moved the majority of applications online with a goal of 100% digital onboarding.
