The customer, Jscape MFT Server, sought to enhance the security of its AS2 file transfers by adding supplementary layers of protection beyond the protocol's built-in features. The vendor, JSCAPE, provided its MFT Server platform to address this challenge.

JSCAPE's solution involved configuring the server to run AS2 transactions over HTTPS, leveraging SSL/TLS to implement data-in-motion encryption, server authentication, and client authentication. This provided a more secure channel for EDI documents, ensured trading partners were connecting to legitimate servers and not impostors, and allowed for mutual verification of identities. The implementation successfully fortified the customer's data transfers with these additional security functions.
