Case Study: Jscape MFT Server achieves heap usage visibility with JSCAPE GetUsedHeapInMb trigger function

A JSCAPE Case Study

Jscape MFT Server logs heap usage every 15 minutes with JSCAPE

The customer, JSCAPE MFT Server, faced a challenge with server performance slowing down during peak usage periods, particularly when handling a high volume of user uploads and downloads. This slowness was suspected to be caused by excessive Java heap memory usage, and they needed a way to monitor this metric to diagnose and debug the issue effectively.

The vendor, JSCAPE, implemented a solution using a custom trigger function called GetUsedHeapInMb. They created an automated trigger within the JSCAPE MFT Server platform that would log the used heap memory to system logs at 15-minute intervals during the known peak busy period. This provided the customer with the necessary runtime statistics to analyze heap usage patterns and identify the cause of the server's slowness, enabling effective troubleshooting.
