A JSCAPE Case Study
The customer, Jscape MFT Server, faced a challenge with server performance slowing down significantly during peak usage periods, particularly between 10 PM and 11 PM, which was suspected to be caused by high Java heap memory consumption during numerous user uploads and downloads.
JSCAPE provided a solution by implementing a custom-built trigger within their MFT Server platform. This trigger was scheduled to run at 15-minute intervals during the problematic hours and used two custom functions, GetUsedHeapInMb and GetMaximumHeapInMb, to calculate and log the available heap memory to the system logs. This allowed the customer's administrators to effectively monitor memory usage in real-time, providing the critical data needed to debug and address the root cause of the server's slowness.
