Case Study: JSCAPE MFT Server alerts on high heap usage with JSCAPE

A JSCAPE Case Study

JSCAPE MFT Server alerts on heap usage every 30 minutes with JSCAPE

The customer, Jscape MFT Server, faced a challenge with server performance slowing down significantly during periods of heavy user activity, such as numerous uploads and downloads. This slowness was often caused by high Java heap memory usage, but they lacked a direct method to monitor this critical resource and receive proactive alerts before it impacted operations. They utilized JSCAPE's MFT Server platform.

JSCAPE implemented a solution using custom trigger functions within their MFT Server product to monitor heap memory usage. They created an automated trigger that checks the available heap every 30 minutes and automatically sends an email alert to administrators whenever the available memory falls below a defined threshold of 300 MB. This provided the customer with a proactive monitoring system, allowing them to identify and address high memory usage before it caused server slowdowns, thereby improving operational reliability and response times.
