Generali, the global insurance and asset management group based in Trieste, Italy, wanted a single employee share plan that could work across 21 countries, 20 languages, and more than 60,000 eligible employees. It needed to support participation, employee ownership, and the Group’s broader culture change while staying simple enough for a large, multi-jurisdiction workforce. J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions worked with Generali on the We SHARE plan.

J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions helped implement an electronic share plan with one portal for multiple languages and currencies, payroll-based savings, and three-year share purchase terms with matching, dividend equivalent shares, and protection if the share price fell below the initial price. Generali also committed to donating the equivalent monetary value of one share for every participant to The Human Safety Net, and many participants donated the same amount themselves. The plan received 98.57% favorable votes at the Annual General Meeting, more than 21,000 employees joined, and the participation rate reached 35.3% after a three-week registration period.
