Bakkafrost’s award winning plan goes the extra mile to reach frontline staff

Bakkafrost, the Faroe Islands-based salmon farming company, set out in 2022 to enhance its existing share offering and extend its Bonus Programme. The main challenge was reaching frontline staff across boats, salmon farms, and processing plants, many of whom had limited internet access, no smartphones, and little familiarity with equity compensation basics.

Working with J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions and its share plan administration software, Bakkafrost took the message directly to employees in person and used the online platform to support education and participant queries. The result was direct contact with 100% of eligible participants and more than 1,500 employees signing up, about 96% of those eligible.
