Douglas Pharmaceuticals, a New Zealand-based pharmaceutical manufacturer with more than 700 employees across New Zealand, the USA, and Fiji, wanted to replace its annual employee engagement survey with a more modern approach. Working with Joyous, the team sought a tool that could support real-time feedback, transparency, and stronger leadership behaviours in a highly regulated, traditional environment.

Joyous implemented an open employee feedback approach that included a baseline survey followed by four monthly questions, supported by leader power-up sessions, FAQs, and strong internal communication. The result was higher leader participation, better one-on-ones, and deeper conversations about how people were really doing, not just how work was going. Douglas Pharmaceuticals reported strong adoption over time, with initial target expectations set at 25% participation compared with 63% in the old survey, and described Joyous as helping empower employees, uplift leadership capability, and change the overall mindset.
