Moonshadow Mobile is an Oregon-based visualization-as-a-service company that delivers address-by-address geospatial maps from a proprietary database that compresses 200 million records (up to 1,000 attributes each) into 12 GB and serves results in under 0.2 seconds. The company needed bare-metal performance for its Node.js apps, very fast internal networks, dynamic scalability to handle large, variable campaign spikes, and expert engineering support — all while avoiding costly over-provisioning.

Moonshadow moved its infrastructure to Joyent’s Node.js-optimized cloud, gaining a much faster internal network, hands-on solutions engineering, and rapid, reliable provisioning (servers in under five minutes, sometimes 30 seconds).
