Chaparral Energy Reduces Field Asset Deployment Costs Using Journyx

Chaparral Energy, a $3.5 billion independent oil and gas company with more than 700 employees, faced inefficient field data capture: crews completed paper Time and Equipment sheets that accounting and payroll separately re‑keyed into spreadsheets and systems, preventing analysis of hours versus billing and tracking equipment utilization. To solve this, Chaparral engaged Journyx for time and equipment tracking and reporting.

Journyx was deployed as a central database for time tracking, equipment utilization and DOT reporting with custom reports that upload directly into Chaparral’s accounting and payroll systems. Handling roughly 20,000 lines of data per month (about 25% of ~370 field hands enter time directly), Journyx eliminated duplicate data entry, enabled AFE‑level and asset reporting, and delivered better analysis to support deployment decisions—resulting in cost savings and improved return on investments.
