Silvacom, an Edmonton-based consulting and land-management firm founded in 1983 with more than 90 employees across three offices, is committed to CSR—particularly supporting Classrooms for Africa’s efforts to expand education for disadvantaged children. The challenge was internal: prior to an intranet, charitable updates were ad hoc and largely confined to an annual fundraiser, and email couldn’t convey the photos, videos and live stories needed to build ongoing employee awareness and ownership.

Since implementing the Jostle intranet in 2014, Silvacom now uses NEWS, Activity, EVENTS, photo albums and live video to share project progress, raise funds and report from the field in real time. This immediate, multimedia communication has increased visibility and staff engagement—helping sustain fundraising and volunteer efforts—and contributed to a 91% monthly employee engagement rate on the platform.
