How a Small Dental Practice Implemented LMS and Turned into Online Dental Program Rolled out Across Europe
SmileTube.tv began as Ken Nicholson’s small dental practice and grew into an online provider of implant dentistry and oral surgery courses. Faced with busy clinicians who couldn’t attend traditional lectures, a lifeless virtual learning environment, and the need for supervised hands‑on training, Ken needed a way to deliver robust continuing education that fit dentists’ schedules and ensured practical skills development.
He launched a blended learning program on a Learning Management System in 2010, building interactive, evidence‑based content with progress tracking and onsite clinical training at his practice and partner centres. The pilot succeeded, the model scaled, and SmileTube.tv became one of the fastest‑growing UK implant course providers — now rolled out across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific, with many participants earning the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Diploma in Implant Dentistry.
