Andover Town Manager needed a better way to reach, inform, and engage its 37,000 residents as traditional local media declined and messages on social media and email got lost in the clutter. To solve this challenge, the town turned to Subtext’s SMS-based community engagement platform.
Subtext helped Andover launch “Andover Insider: Town Hall Text Line,” giving the Town Manager’s Office a direct line to residents on their phones for weekly updates about projects, events, and programs. The results were strong: subscriber growth jumped 124% in the first month, the town reached 75% of its yearly subscriber goal within three months with less than 4% churn, and a text reminder generated more than 20 additional participatory budget submissions overnight after only 12 proposals came through traditional channels.
