Wyandotte Public Schools - Customer Case Study

Wyandotte Public Schools, a Michigan district serving more than 4,700 students across 11 facilities, needed to improve aging buildings, reduce rising energy and operating costs, and upgrade the appearance of Roosevelt High School without using capital budget funds. Working with Johnson Controls, the district pursued performance contracting and energy-efficiency improvements to help fund the upgrades through future savings.

Johnson Controls implemented window and door replacements, a new marquee, roof and HVAC upgrades, a Metasys® building management system, and a 10-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system at Wilson Middle School. The results included $6.9 million in guaranteed energy and operational savings over 15 years, ENERGY STAR certification for all 11 buildings, and a restored Roosevelt High School that became a centerpiece of the Wyandotte community, while also giving students hands-on experience with renewable energy.
