The O2, London’s state-of-the-art music and entertainment destination, needed discreet but highly effective security and fire protection for a vast, densely occupied venue and its surrounding Entertainment Avenue. Johnson Controls provided a combined solution including CCTV, access control, VESDA very early smoke detection, fire alarms, call points, PAVA voice alarm speakers, and smoke/heat detection to help protect visitors while preserving the guest experience.

Johnson Controls implemented extensive monitoring and life-safety systems across the arena, concourses, entertainment district, and other areas, with cameras feeding into the operations room and voice alerts integrated with the sound system for controlled evacuations. The project involved more than 5,000 pieces of equipment, 80 subcontractors, 44,000 man-days of work, and a contract value of over £8 million, delivering a reliable, discreet solution on time for The O2.
