Sierra Nevada Brewing Co - Customer Case Study

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., one of the world’s most environmentally sustainable brewers, needed to replace aging, noisy central refrigeration equipment that had become inefficient, maintenance-heavy, and unreliable. Johnson Controls was brought in to help address the brewery’s challenge of consolidating several isolated chiller systems and improving performance across the facility, including support for a quieter solution beneath an entertainment venue.

Johnson Controls installed four YORK® YMC2 magnetic centrifugal chillers and Central Plant Optimization™ 10 software powered by Metasys® to create a more efficient central chilled water plant. The upgrade delivered annual energy savings of 1.2 million kWh, reduced natural gas consumption, and earned a utility incentive, while also lowering maintenance and downtime and reducing noise and operational risk for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
