A Johnson Controls Case Study
Rush University Medical Center, a large academic health center in Chicago, needed to replace an obsolete access control system across its 20-building, four-block campus while improving security for patients, staff, and visitors. With more than 8,000 employees and a growing mix of sensitive areas, the hospital wanted a future-proof platform that could support phased technology upgrades, including access control, video, intrusion, and emergency notification. Johnson Controls provided the C•CURE 9000 access control foundation, along with American Dynamics victor video management.
Johnson Controls helped Rush implement a campus-wide, integrated security strategy built on C•CURE 9000 and victor, enabling unified access control and video monitoring, faster incident review, and better lockdown capabilities. The hospital expanded from targeted departments to enterprise-wide coverage, added more than 1,500 cameras, and now has about 5,000 people using badges daily. As a result, security teams can quickly identify incidents, respond proactively, and manage doors, video, and infant protection more efficiently across the campus.
