A Johnson Controls Case Study
Port of Cork Company, Ireland’s premier trading port on the south coast of Ireland, needed to strengthen safety and security across its wide harbour estate while meeting the International Ship and Port facility Security (ISPS) code and other compliance requirements. With sites spread over 15 kilometres and more than 100 staff, the port required a flexible access control and ID badging solution that could support remote monitoring and minimize disruption to operations. Johnson Controls, through CEM Systems, supplied the AC2000 SE (Standard Edition) security management system.
Johnson Controls implemented the AC2000 SE system across six port sites, integrating it with CCTV and intercoms to provide centralized access control, remote monitoring, and professional pass production via AC2000 VIPPS. The system used intelligent CEM readers to manage access even when host communication was unavailable, storing over 150,000 cardholder records and transactions offline. As a result, Port of Cork Company improved security, achieved full compliance and certification for IPSEM, and was able to support ongoing growth with a system that can adapt to future expansion and changing regulations.
