PC & Wireless Shop - Customer Case Study

The PC & Wireless Shop, a family-owned technology retailer and service provider in Canandaigua, New York, needed a better way to monitor its sales floor and repair areas. Its existing IP cameras were outdated, slow, and produced pixelated footage with blind spots, while also requiring special software and a dedicated PC for viewing. Johnson Controls, through Tyco Security Products’ Illustra Edge high-definition cameras and exacqVision Edge VMS, offered a more modern surveillance approach.

Johnson Controls helped The PC & Wireless Shop install eight Illustra Edge cameras, including fisheye, mini-dome, and mini-bullet models, with exacqVision Edge software running directly on the cameras. This eliminated the need for a separate server and dedicated monitoring computer, saving space, bandwidth, and costs while improving image quality and coverage across the 5,000-square-foot store. The new system also enabled easier video search and better low-light performance, giving the shop a more cost-effective and reliable security solution.
