The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham needed to upgrade the fire alarm, extinguishing, and intruder alarm systems in its redeveloped LG Arena to support increased capacity and maintain safety during live events. Johnson Controls, working on the venue’s fire and security systems, was brought in to help provide a reliable and robust integrated protection solution.

Johnson Controls upgraded the site from the older Minerva fire alarm equipment to a modern digital MX Technology addressable system with multi-sensor detection, improving flexibility, reliability, and future expandability. The solution also integrated with public address voice alarm controls and was delivered on a tight deadline while the venue remained operational, with the project completed in time for major events such as the Horse of the Year Show.
