Matalan calls in Tyco for revamped depot

Matalan, the UK clothing and homeware retailer, needed to update fire safety measures at its Corby distribution centre after installing a new six-storey hanging garment racking system. The change made its existing high-level safety signage unsuitable, so it called in Johnson Controls, using fire extinguishers and photoluminescent signage as part of the upgrade.

Johnson Controls designed and installed a £8,000 fire safety solution that included 120 fire extinguishers positioned around the site and new floor-level photoluminescent signage to suit the mezzanine layout. The result was a clearer, more visible escape route and improved fire safety resources, with Matalan reporting that the signs performed well in testing and were durable enough to last for years.
