Mactan-Cebu International Airport unifies BAS with Johnson Controls to serve 10 million passengers a year

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) faced a challenge with its two terminals operating on separate building systems, which led to inconsistent performance, higher operating costs, and an inability to effectively meet its sustainability goals. To modernize its operations and create a unified digital environment, MCIA partnered with Johnson Controls to deploy the Metasys Building Automation System.

Johnson Controls implemented a unified platform by updating Terminal 1 with Metasys and integrating it with Terminal 2's existing system. This solution provided coordinated, real-time monitoring and control across the entire airport. The results included reduced energy consumption, improved operational reliability, and support for its decarbonization goals, which contributed to MCIA receiving the Platinum Green Airport Award.
