King County - Customer Case Study

King County, Washington, needed to upgrade access control across more than 35 facilities while integrating existing security systems, more than 25,000 access cards, 600 cameras, duress alarms, and emergency notification capabilities. Working with Johnson Controls and systems integrator SimplexGrinnell, the county sought a unified platform that could provide a single user interface, faster alarm response, remote access, and better reporting for its security staff and 24/7 incident response center.

Johnson Controls’ C•CURE 9000 security and event management system, along with the Lynx Network Duress and Emergency Notification System, Sur-Gard receivers, and iSTAR door controllers, was deployed to centralize monitoring and automate alarm dispatching. The solution integrated legacy and new devices, enabled real-time notifications via radio, desktop, phone, text, and other channels, and supported a phased migration without downtime. As a result, King County gained cleaner alarm handling, improved visibility and control, and a scalable foundation for future biometrics, wireless locks, and integrated credentialing.
