Grocon’s Liberty Place in Sydney Achieves 6-Star Green Star Rating with Integrated Building Technology Solution from Johnson Controls

Grocon, the developer behind Liberty Place in Sydney, wanted to create a premium office and retail complex that would move toward zero-carbon performance while meeting demanding sustainability targets. Working with Johnson Controls, the project needed an operational tri-generation system to efficiently manage cooling, heating, and electricity, while also supporting heritage buildings on site and achieving top NABERS and Green Star ratings.

Johnson Controls delivered an integrated building technology solution including YORK chillers, absorption chillers, a Sabroe SABlight air-cooled chiller, Metasys building management system, Central Plant Optimization software, and an Energy Dashboard. The fully automated tri-generation plant and optimized controls helped cut chiller and pump energy use, delivering about 20% savings in the chilled water system and helping Liberty Place achieve a 5.0 Star NABERS rating and 6-Star Green Star rating.
