A Johnson Controls Case Study
Oxford High School in Oxford, MS, needed to accommodate enrollment growth while delivering a bold vision: a high-tech, energy-efficient, and highly secure learning environment, including one-to-one digital learning for students in grades 7–12. Working with Johnson Controls, the district sought a way to stretch its construction budget and support its plan for campus-wide connectivity, advanced safety, and modern building systems.
Johnson Controls implemented an Energy Services Agreement, Metasys® building management system, modular central energy plant, and Technology Contracting™ approach to integrate lighting, HVAC, network infrastructure, fire safety, access control, and classroom technology. The result was a 200,000-square-foot school that reduced energy use, saved an estimated $6 million in energy and operational costs over 15 years, and is expected to achieve LEED® Silver certification, while also enabling a safer, more connected learning environment and district-wide standardization.
