Case Study: COSCO achieves reliable FPSO production with Johnson Controls injection systems

COSCO, a global shipping group, needed specialized chemical injection equipment for a new FPSO vessel being built at its QiDong shipyard in China. The challenge was to support large-scale oil production in the Western Isles area of the North Sea, including a much higher-than-normal methanol injection flow rate, while minimizing supply interruptions and maintaining high productivity.

Johnson Controls, operating as Tyco in the case study, delivered a Chemical Injection System and Methanol Injection Skid with 3D CAD design support, including large carbon steel skids and stainless steel reservoirs. The solution featured backup critical components for reliability and helped COSCO complete the project safely, reaching over two million man-hours without a time-loss incident.
