A Johnson Controls Case Study
Central Bucks School District, a 20,000-student K-12 district in Doylestown, PA, needed to reduce operating costs without harming instruction or student-teacher ratios. To help meet that challenge, Johnson Controls worked with the district on a performance contract focused on improving efficiency across its 27 buildings using technologies such as Metasys® and Panoptix®.
Johnson Controls implemented occupancy sensors, equipment upgrades, and districtwide building management and analytics tools that gave Central Bucks real-time visibility and control over energy use. The results exceeded expectations: the district delivered $12.3 million in savings in its first five years, gained more than $300,000 annually from demand-response participation, and received nearly $800,000 in utility rebates, helping fund debt reduction, tax stabilization, teacher training, and classroom technology investments.
