Cardiff County Council needed to upgrade the fire protection system at Cardiff County Hall, its busy administrative centre and multi-purpose venue in Cardiff. With constant footfall from staff, councillors, and visitors, the council wanted a robust, reliable fire detection solution, including fire and smoke detection and integration with access control and building systems.

Johnson Controls, working through Tyco technology, installed the latest MZX digital fire detection system with damper panel interface and door control integration, while also supporting the Minerva recycling scheme to reduce waste. The upgrade was completed promptly with no disruption to the working day, and it improved early fire detection, helped isolate any incident more quickly, and increased overall safety across the site.
