Case Study: Oil-Dri achieves improved forecasting, resource planning and inventory control with John Galt Solutions’ Demand Management Engine

A John Galt Solutions Case Study

Preview of the Oil-Dri Case Study

Oil-Dri Gains Major Operational and Inventory Dividends

Oil-Dri, a leading manufacturer of absorbent clay products (including Cat’s Pride and Jonny Cat), needed to integrate forecast data and improve forecasting accuracy to support resource and demand planning but lacked company-wide processes and a PC-based data warehouse. After evaluating options, Oil-Dri selected the Demand Management Engine, a core application in John Galt Solutions’ Atlas Planning Suite; implementation began in January 2004 and was completed in just over six months.

John Galt Solutions’ Demand Management Engine now provides 10–20 operations, sales and accounting users with flexible forecasting and reporting tools, and — even without integration to Oil-Dri’s MRP — has delivered measurable benefits: more accurate forecasts, improved resource allocation, better plant staffing decisions, clearer capacity and fuel purchase planning, and tighter plant-level inventory objectives and management.
