Burt’s Bees Builds Collaborative Forecast with Atlas Planning

Burt’s Bees, the leading maker of natural personal-care products sold through some 30,000 retail outlets, faced rapidly increasing complexity as growth exceeded 20% annually and the supply chain doubled in three years. The Financial Planning & Analysis team needed more sophisticated demand and inventory planning tools, and after evaluating options they selected John Galt Solutions’ Atlas Planning Solution (building on prior use of ForecastX Wizard) for its event management, customization and intuitive interface.

John Galt Solutions implemented Atlas Planning and a web-based Planning Portal to collect forecast input from about 35 salespeople, add inventory management and handle promotional events. The result was dramatic improvement in forecast accuracy and inventory fill rates, faster what‑if analysis via Atlas’s pivot tables, and better visibility into new product launches; Burt’s Bees is also moving forward with John Galt Solutions’ Consumer Centric Planning (CCP) to create weekly POS-driven forecasts for major retailers.
