Discovery, one of South Africa’s leading health and wellness brands, needed to re-engage members with its existing healthy-living publication and turn it from a brochure into a compelling consumer magazine. John Brown Media was brought in after a competitive pitch to help deliver a stronger editorial product for Discovery’s Vitality programme.

John Brown Media completely redesigned the magazine and introduced a new editorial approach built around inspiring journalism, expert health advice, and member-focused content. It launched the Discovery membership magazine and Discovery Vitality Journal, mailed free to 1 million members three times a year, with additional digital formats planned; the result was a more authoritative, engaging publication designed to motivate healthier living, strengthen loyalty, and increase business value.
