Case Study: WildTrack improves endangered species conservation with JMP

A JMP Case Study

Preview of the WildTrack Case Study

WildTrack saves endangered species with JMP® and the Footprint Identification Technique

WildTrack, a not-for-profit conservation organization, faced the challenge of counting elusive endangered animals without disturbing them, using a method that was both affordable and sustainable. To address this need, WildTrack turned to JMP and its Footprint Identification Technique (FIT) to replace invasive census methods with noninvasive footprint-based monitoring.

Using JMP, WildTrack built an analytics application that turns footprint images into unique animal identifiers and combines them with GPS data for highly accurate wildlife censuses. With this solution from JMP, WildTrack has been able to estimate how many animals are in specific areas and support conservation decisions for species such as rhinos, tigers, lions, and polar bears around the world.
