Whale Conservation Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting endangered right whales in Argentina’s Peninsula Valdés, faced the challenge of understanding threats to southern right whales and turning complex research into actionable conservation insights. The institute used JMP, along with SAS, to analyze diverse whale data and support its scientific work.
JMP helped Whale Conservation Institute analyze feeding-ground patterns, gull harassment, and whale-age data, enabling researchers to better understand whale behavior and population dynamics. With JMP, the institute produced scientific information that informed more effective conservation strategies and management plans to protect the whales and their habitat, including findings that mother-calf pairs were especially affected by gull attacks.
