A JMP Case Study
Valard Construction, a large Edmonton-based electric utility construction company, needed to optimize staffing and labor costs on major transmission projects, where labor can represent up to half of the total budget. To tackle this challenge, Valard turned to JMP and its analytics and data visualization capabilities to better understand and forecast crew productivity across complex, labor-intensive projects.
Using JMP, Valard’s data science team connected and cleaned data from multiple sources, then built models to track and analyze crew performance, including 96 distinct crews on one project. JMP helped them identify key productivity drivers, improve forecasting, and communicate findings clearly to managers, resulting in reduced labor costs and shorter project timelines as the approach rolls out more broadly across the company.
