The Nature Conservancy Protecting precious coral reefs

The Nature Conservancy faced the challenge of protecting coral reefs from bleaching driven by global warming, especially in Florida’s vulnerable reef tract. Working with JMP and SAS software, the organization needed better ways to study reef health, map coral locations, and monitor water-quality conditions across large survey areas.

JMP helped The Nature Conservancy explore, visualize, and share coral data, while SAS was used to statistically analyze survey results and calculate the extent of bleaching across the reef tract. The solution enabled researchers to identify resilient reefs and species, detect seasonal patterns and outliers, and ultimately protect significant coral reefs and more than a million plant and animal species that depend on them.
