Research engineers at Georgia Tech use JMP to explore opportunities and address challenges

Georgia Tech’s Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory faced the challenge of helping industry, military, and government teams design highly complex aerospace systems while improving safety, reducing environmental impact, and lowering costs. Using JMP statistical discovery software, the lab needed a way to evaluate many tradeoffs early in the design process and make sense of large, interdependent datasets.

JMP implemented an interactive analytics and visualization approach, including surrogate modeling and a custom Collaborative Visualization Environment, to support rapid what-if analysis and multidimensional exploration. The results were better, more innovative designs, faster decision-making, and the ability to evaluate hundreds of thousands of design possibilities graphically; Georgia Tech researchers said JMP was central to the process and even described it as enabling “100 times the work” compared with homegrown tools.
