Case Study: PPG achieves healthier employees and lower health care costs with JMP statistical software

PPG, the global coatings and specialty products manufacturer, wanted a better way to understand what drives employee chronic disease risk and how to keep workers healthier and more productive while controlling health care costs. Using JMP statistical software, the company analyzed complex health data across 29 worksites to identify how risk factors, wellness efforts, and outcomes relate to one another.

JMP helped PPG apply principal components analysis, multivariate modeling, and prediction profiling to more than 70 variables, revealing obesity as a key issue tied to cardiovascular outcomes and workers’ compensation costs. As a result, PPG launched targeted wellness initiatives such as weight-loss challenges, farmers’ markets, cafeteria menu changes, and exercise programs, helping guide smarter health investments and better communicate the findings across the company.
