Neuroscientist likes the flexibility and power of analysis with JMP Genomics

The University of Maryland at Baltimore used JMP Genomics to investigate the biological pathways behind chronic pain and identify new therapeutic targets. The team, led by neuroscientist Susan Dorsey, needed a flexible and statistically robust way to analyze complex genomic data from mice across microarray, SNP, exon, and sequencing studies.

JMP Genomics, from JMP, enabled the researchers to visualize and analyze large genomic datasets quickly and accurately, helping them spot trends and outliers. Using the software, the team identified a mouse gene linked to reduced morphine effectiveness and positioned the lab for further translational research, with the potential to advance pain treatments and uncover downstream target genes.
