Medtronic’s Tissue Effect Research group needed a better way to make the most of its R&D investment while evaluating medical device performance with greater precision and reliability. Using JMP, the team led by a research manager and industrial statistician set out to improve analysis of complex test data for devices like LigaSure, which are designed to seal blood vessels safely and effectively.

JMP helped Medtronic implement a scripted Seal Performance Tool that automated multivariate analysis, improved graphical visualization, and made it easier for the whole team to compare burst pressure with other device parameters. The result was faster, more flexible data mining, more consistent reporting across cross-functional teams, and stronger evidence generation to support safe, effective products.
