A JMP Case Study
Kirin Holdings Company faced declining beer consumption in Japan as consumers, especially younger people and women, shifted toward lighter, ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages. To respond, Kirin used JMP and JMP Pro to analyze sensory data and identify what makes liquor-based drinks more appealing, helping guide development of new RTD cocktail concepts.
Using JMP, Kirin’s researchers ran multivariate, predictive, and partial least-squares analyses to refine beverage flavor, thickness, and texture at lower testing costs. The approach contributed to the creation of Hyoketsu, which became Japan’s No. 1 RTD brand, with more than 10 billion cans sold since 2015.
