Case Study: Roche achieves faster biosensor analysis and higher productivity with JMP

Fine-tuning the tools of quality health care

Roche Diagnostics International’s diagnostics team in Rotkreuz, Switzerland faced the challenge of optimizing the complex production of biosensors for its cobas b 123 point-of-care system, where sensor performance depends on many process variables. Roche uses JMP statistical discovery software from SAS, including JMP Query Builder, to analyze manufacturing data and monitor key process indicators.

With JMP, Roche implemented statistical process control charts, Graph Builder, and data models to better understand production variation, spot issues earlier, and track quality in shop-floor KPI meetings. Roche reported that JMP dramatically increased productivity, improved speed of analysis and response, and helped the team better control processes such as screen-print thickness and layer resistance.
