Case Study: Lufthansa achieves more precise flight scheduling with JMP

A JMP Case Study

Preview of the Lufthansa Case Study

Europe’s largest airline uses statistical modeling in JMP to match services with passenger preferences

Lufthansa, Europe’s largest airline, needed a better way to evaluate flight-connection models because its booking data was incomplete and increasingly less representative. The airline turned to JMP statistical modeling and data visualization to determine whether mathematically correct scheduling models were also realistic and aligned with passenger preferences.

Using JMP, Lufthansa’s team visualized complex data clusters, identified outliers, and calibrated models more effectively. The result was improved flight-scheduling quality and more precise connections for all customer groups; 13 Lufthansa experts now use JMP, and the airline described the software as a milestone in developing near-optimal models.
